Pre-Application for the Graduate Program in Biology

If you are interested in the Biology Graduate Program at Penn State, we encourage you to submit this pre-application form before making a formal application. Submitting this form is optional - you will be considered for admission when you make a formal application, whether or not you have submitted a pre-application. But submitting this free pre-application allows us to notify faculty of your interest, and to give you a preliminary assessment of the likely strength of your application were you to apply formally. The pre-application may be submitted at any time of year, but ideally you should submit it at least a month ahead of any formal application. When you submit your pre-application, the information is sent to the Biology Department?s Graduate Secretary, who will respond by email within a week.
